Coylton Tennis Club
Joe Turner who sadly passed away recently was a founder member of the club when it was resurrected in 1979.
He was involved in forming our constitution and served on the committee every year only missing out when he had to travel to Ethiopa on a fact finding aid mission.
He was a pillar of the club and could turn his hand to almost anything from president to building expert.
He was instrumental in erecting our very first portacabin and laying a concrete slab pathway.
Latterly well into his 80's he helped Alistair in the construction of our present clubhouse.
The club owes a lot to Joe and he will be sadly missed.
On the 13th September the club held their annual end of the season tournament which was renamed the Turner Tournament in Joe's honour. Donations were welcomed to go to a charity chosen by Alice,Joe's wife, and the family.
The money collected £200 was donated to Hollybush House Combat Stress Centre
