Gregor Morris has won the West of Scotland Junior Open Championship in the 10U age group.
This is a Grade 3 event and had 24 entrants including most of the top 10U players in Scotland plus a couple of good players from south of the border.
On his way to the championship Gregor beat the number 2 seed from Perth, and the number 1 player from the East of Scotland. And despite trailing in both the semi-final and final, he closed both matches out to lift the trophy.
He was delighted to discover that the first name engraved on the cup is a certain Jamie Murray who beat brother Andy in the 1994 final...
Commenting after the final dad Daryl said - “Obviously I'm delighted that he won but the best thing was the positive way that he played, the spirit he played his matches in, and the way that he held it together in tough situations.”
